Info Good to Know: X-Rays & Stitches

Are X-rays included in the price?
No, they are not. Because every patient's case is unique, we charge for X-rays separately. Some patients only need a small 300 THB X-ray, while impacted wisdom teeth usually require a larger 600 THB scan. This ensures you only pay for exactly the imaging you need!

What about stitches?
For surgeries that require suturing, we use standard silk stitches at no extra cost (these require a quick visit 7 days later for removal). If you are traveling soon or prefer not to return, you can opt for dissolvable stitches for just 200 THB extra per piece. They vanish naturally in 7-14 days.

SSO

Social Security (SSO) coverage available for expats!
(Tourists can also request medical certificates for travel insurance claims)

The Process: What to Expect

  1. The Consultation: Your dentist will perform an exam and take the necessary X-rays to assess the tooth's position and map the roots.
  2. The Procedure: Extractions and surgeries are performed under local anesthesia. The area will be totally numb; you will feel pressure, but no sharp pain.
  3. Aftercare & Sutures: If you had an extraction that needed stitches, you can choose between standard stitches or our convenient dissolvable option (+200 THB) if you are leaving Bangkok soon.

Recovery Tips for the Tropics

  • Skip the Spice: Thailand is a great place to eat soft foods. Skip the spicy curries and opt for Jok (rice porridge) or mango smoothies.
  • Avoid the Heat: Bangkok's heat can increase swelling. Spend the first 48 hours recovering in an air-conditioned room.
  • No Straws: Do not use a straw for iced coffee or coconuts. The suction can dislodge the healing blood clot (dry socket).

FAQ

What is the difference between extraction and wisdom tooth surgery?

A normal extraction is for a tooth that has fully erupted through the gum line and can be pulled easily. Wisdom tooth surgery is required when the tooth is "impacted" (stuck beneath the gums or in the jawbone), which requires a minor incision to remove.

Are X-rays included in the extraction price?

No, X-rays are billed separately. Depending on your specific case, you may need a small X-ray (300 THB) or a larger panoramic X-ray (600 THB) to safely view the roots and nerves. We itemize this so you don't pay for more than you need.

Do I have to return to the clinic to have my stitches removed?

If your procedure requires stitches, standard stitches are included and must be removed after 7 days. However, if you are a tourist leaving Bangkok soon, you can request dissolvable stitches for an extra 200 THB. These will disappear on their own!
