Moving to Thailand and want to continue your braces? Transferring your case is often necessary due to relocation, changing clinics for better care, or switching from metal braces to clear aligners. However, you should not change clinics unless necessary, as it can prolong treatment time while the new orthodontist studies your plan.
Please Note: This service is strictly for long-term residents and expats working in Thailand. To ensure treatment success, we cannot accept short-term tourists. At CDC Dental, we guarantee the same price as locals with no dual pricing. This article guides you on how to continue your braces in Thailand.
Guide to Braces Transfer in Thailand
As soon as you know you are moving to Thailand, start researching dental clinics in your new area to ensure you have enough time to select the right English speaking dentist and team.
Consult your current doctor first. They may be able to recommend a colleague in Thailand with a similar treatment philosophy. You can also ask friends or expats in the area for recommendations.
Note: In Thailand, many general dentists offer braces, but fully certified specialists are rare. We highly recommend verifying that your doctor is a Certified Orthodontist. You can check the listHERE. Always read reviews and compare costs.
Make an appointment to meet the team, discuss your treatment plan, and ask any questions you may have about continuing your braces in Thailand.
Once you decide to move, ask your previous clinic for your full dental records (X-rays, photos, history). This helps your new orthodontist continue care seamlessly without starting from scratch.
Bring your records to your first appointment. The doctor will assess your current status and create a plan to finish your treatment effectively.

Continuing braces requires a thorough assessment by a specialist to ensure the plan remains effective. Here are key factors we consider:
Whether you can keep your current brackets depends on several factors, which the doctor will evaluate during your visit.

To check if you can continue your braces in Thailand, we recommend a consultation with our specialist first for the most accurate assessment.
New records are essential for transfer cases. This establishes a "baseline" for the new doctor to take legal and medical responsibility. The process includes Intraoral/Extraoral photos, Impressions or 3D Scan, and X-rays.
New Records Fee: Typically 3,500 THB. Promotion: 999 THB (~$30 USD) (Valid until 31 Dec 2026)
Generally, it is not mandatory, but we highly recommend informing them to request your transfer documents and X-rays.

Q: I moved to Thailand; can I continue my braces with a different system?
A: Yes, our orthodontists can often adapt different braces systems or transfer you to compatible appliances while maintaining your treatment progress.
Q: What do I do if I moved country with braces but don't have my records?
A: Don't worry! We can perform a comprehensive assessment to determine your current state and continue treatment appropriately.
Q: Is this service appropriate for tourists or people on short visits to Thailand?
A: No, our orthodontic transfer service is designed specifically for long-term residents and expatriates in Thailand. Orthodontic treatment requires regular follow-up appointments over an extended period, making it unsuitable for tourists or short-stay visitors.
Q: How long do I need to be staying in Thailand to qualify for this service?
A: We recommend this service for patients planning to stay in Thailand for at least 6-12 months, as orthodontic treatment requires consistent monthly follow-ups for effective results.
Q: I've already started treatment with another dentist in Thailand, but I'm not satisfied. Can I transfer to your clinic?
A: Absolutely! We frequently accept transfers from other clinics within Thailand. Our orthodontic specialists will evaluate your current treatment progress and create a seamless transition plan to continue your care with our team.
Q: Do you have English-speaking dentists for braces adjustments?
A: Absolutely! All our orthodontists and staff speak fluent English to ensure clear communication about your treatment.
